Installation

Installing the Datafeed App is a one-step process — run the installer, accept the defaults, and you're done. The total time is under two minutes on a typical machine.

Before you begin

Make sure you have:

  • A machine that meets the system requirements.
  • Administrator rights on that machine.
  • Your Customer Code and API Key from Kiss (you'll need these during the next step, Configuration, not during the install itself).

Step 1 — Download the installer

The installer is provided by Kiss as a Windows executable named KissDatafeedSetup-1.0.0.exe. You can download it from the Kiss customer portal, or your account manager will send you a direct link.

Always download from the official customer portal so you can be sure you have the right file. If you need to verify the file matches the one Kiss published, your account manager can supply a SHA-256 checksum on request.

Step 2 — Run the installer

  1. Double-click KissDatafeedSetup-1.0.0.exe.
  2. Approve the User Account Control prompt that asks whether you want to allow the installer to make changes to your device.
  3. Walk through the setup wizard. You can accept every default — there are no options that require a decision for a typical install.
  4. On the final screen, leave "Launch Kiss Datafeed Configuration" ticked and click Finish.

The Configuration tool will open automatically. You may see one more User Account Control prompt because the Configuration tool also requires administrator rights to manage the background service.

What the installer does

Behind the scenes, the installer:

  • Installs the application files to C:\Program Files\Kiss\Datafeed.
  • Registers a Windows background service named Kiss Datafeed Service, set to start automatically when the machine boots.
  • Configures the service to automatically restart up to three times if it ever stops unexpectedly.
  • Creates the data folder at %ProgramData%\Kiss\Datafeed, where configuration, credentials, state, and logs are stored.
  • Adds a Kiss Datafeed Configuration shortcut to the Start menu (and optionally to your desktop).

Verify the install

Once the Configuration tool is open you'll see a status bar at the bottom of the window labelled Service: followed by the live state. A green dot and the text "Running" mean the background service is up and ready for configuration.

If the dot is red or amber, see Troubleshooting.

Next: configure the app

The first time you open the Configuration tool, you need to enter your credentials and pick an output folder. Continue to Configuration.

Uninstalling

To remove the Datafeed App:

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
  2. Find Kiss Datafeed and choose Uninstall.
  3. The uninstaller asks whether to also remove your configuration, credentials, and logs. The default is No so that reinstalling later picks up where you left off. Choose Yes only if you're removing the app permanently and want a clean slate.
